What to expect in the year of Rahu – 2020?

Happy 2020! I never really got the time to sling some cards to see what energies are at play for us all as a collective in the year 2020.

2020 is a combination of 2 + 2 (double moon effect) adding up to 4, which in Indian astrology/numerology is associated with the shadow planet, Rahu, the north node of the Moon, also known as the Dragon’s head sometimes. 4 is a number associated with structure, stability, rigidity, and sometimes limitations. With a malefic planet such as Rahu, the themes of illusions, manipulation, greed, also come into play. But will Rahu’s effects give us a hard time this year? Keeping the numero-astro associations aside, I turned to the cards for a message.

If we were to pick just one card to represent the energy of this year, it is none other than the attractive, loving, and caring Empress. The Empress is none other than Venus herself and if we were to combine Venus with Rahu, an obsessive mix comes into play.

Because Venus is beauty, luxury, and comfort, too much emphasis could be placed this year on accomplishing all three. Beauty can beguile and lead us astray so it is important that we don’t get taken in by what we see. Our judgment can be easily manipulated and we may be lead to believe things that are often not true. Sweet talks can turn our minds and hearts around quite easily.

I believe the entertainment and glamour industry will do well this year. New and appealing fashion accessories and products may come up in the market. Technology too may be quite fixated on creating items that will appeal to our senses and feed our hunger for gratification. There is a very good chance that people in the make-up, art, animation, film production industry, or jewelry business will make more money and taste success (whether through honest means or not remains to be seen). Attractive women may come into the limelight more this year and women are more likely to achieve fame and recognition on the worldly platform.

Our own fascination with beauty can make us explore different avenues this year focusing on looking and feeling good mostly from outside. More and more people may be concerned with external beauty and not the inner one which is why it is important to find and make time for inner growth and wellness, as well.

When it comes to relationships, on the positive side, this year can prove lucky for marriage (expensive and showy ones at best), relationships (perhaps with a partner older or younger to you) and even motherhood for some. However, on the negative side to things, this year may also witness more extra-marital affairs, divorces, fake-love, etc. More importance may be given to physical pleasure than emotional connections. People ending up with partners outside of their religion, culture, and beliefs may also become more common than usual. Sexual gratification may engulf the minds and the cloak of ‘real love’ may often be used to accomplish this. Some may not be satisfied with what they have craving for more and more outside of their means.

One thing that we as individuals need to bear in mind is to not be taken in by day-dreams, fantasies, and unrealistic expectations from life. We may have the tendency to run after things that may lack real value because illusions will be on a rise, almost having this unconscious pull.

When it comes to health and well-being, excessive importance could be laid on physical appearance and so, many will get serious about their fitness goals. However, many may also resort to quick fixes and look for supplements such as pills, powders, or other means to achieve the end results. Be warned that companies may try and sell you supplements that promise to help you shed weight with fewer efforts or beauty creams that could make you look younger by 10 years. Most of the time, this can be a hoax or lead to negative results in the long run. Stick to the basics and stick to the right way of doing things. Our tastebuds may crave more exotic food and beverages and weight gain issues can impact our self-image.

These are some of the possibilities of what we can expect from 2020 from the lens of Tarot-Numero-Astrological associations. So, how do we deal with the energy of this year? What is the best way to move through this year? I have received the 3 of cups card as the answer.

Enjoy the moment and have a blast, you guys! Yes, make the most of the good times and start living your life more fully. Most importantly, I also sense the need for us all to have good support systems in our lives in the form of friends and a community that feels like home. Find more like-minded people to engage with and be there to support and uplift each other.

Everything in this world has a dual nature and so, I will also say that we must be more aware and careful of who we call friends and associate ourselves with. If you don’t pick the right set of people to be your homies, you may end up with the fake ones who are there for the good times but may not have your back when the going gets tough. We must also be careful to not get carried away and end up mimicking wrong, destructive habits from those around us. Do not emulate someone just to look and feel cool when in reality, their ways and habits are only going to cause you harm.

We must avoid getting too dependent on unhealthy food and beverages as a means to find peace and joy and include more healthy, nutritious food in our diets.

With the ability to make the distinction of right and wrong for us, we can sail through the smokey, illusory waters of Rahu’s year 2020 with grace. Will this be a good year, you ask? I do see plenty of moments that can make you feel like you are on cloud nine. However, what happens when you wake up the next morning? Will the same feeling remain? Are things really built to last? That is tough to say and remains questionable, my friends.

Some remedies to try this year to mitigate the effects of Rahu (if you fancy).

Feed birds
When possible, live with family or loved ones rather than live alone
Store water in the south-west corner of your home.
Use dark-blue color generously
Feed dogs on a regular basis (especially stray ones)
Cover your head with a scarf or a cap whenever possible

With this, I am going to sign off now and urge that you enjoy this post as a good read, while being aware of the possibilities and see how they play out in your life.

Blessed 2020.

Om Namah Shivaya
