Venus Retrograde 2023 – How will it impact us?

Venus Retrograde is taking place on the 22nd of July, 2023 in the sign of Leo. Venus will then station direct on the 3rd of September, 2023. What does this mean for us as a collective?

Today, I am going to share some insights with you about what this Venus Retrograde can mean for us all as a collective, primarily in the department of love and relationships, using Tarot and Oracle cards.

I came up with a Tarot Spread to get more clarity on this topic and the deck I am using for this reading is the Modern Love Tarot by Ethony. If you wish to purchase this deck, I have posted my affiliate link below.

Before we begin, let us go over the positions of this Tarot spread.

Card 1. What card best represents the energy of this retrograde?

Card 2. What challenge will this retrograde cycle present for us as a collective?

Card 3. What is the lesson this retrograde cycle wants to teach us?

Card 4. What is our guidance on how to move through this retrograde cycle?

Card 5. Where will this cycle leave/lead us to when it is done? You can download a copy of this by clicking the link below.

Venus Retrograde Tarot Spread

You can try this spread for yourself individually as well or you can reach out to me and book a reading on this spread, if it interests you.

Shuffle, Shuffle, Shuffle. Let’s see what the cards are saying.

For position 1, the card that showed up is the Two of Swords. Venus is a planet of love, beauty, relationships, and our sex life. This card is so telling of the fact that our relationships and love life are bound to go through some troubled waters during this phase. There can be a communication breakdown and disagreements between couples. Fights, misunderstanding, and silent war games could occur.

For position 2, we have the Six of wands. We may face challenges in achieving our goals. Extra push is needed to get things done.

In the Rider Waite deck, the 6 of wands can point towards having an inflated Ego and the need to win at all costs. There can be this tug of war between couples with the intention to win arguments just to pacify the ego.

People may fight for the sake of fighting and to validate that only their views and opinions are right. This is something we must be more mindful of. Don’t let your temporary ego trips cause damage to your connections.

For position 3, we have the 8 of Pentacles. What is the lesson this retrograde is here to teach us?

The 8 of Pentacles card is about putting in consistent work to get better at something. Relationships need work too.

Venus retrograde brings up old issues and emotions that we must deal with. It not only sheds the light on the problems that need to be fixed in our relationships, but also the deep, dark emotions that are lurking within us.

The habits, attitude, and patterns that we must break in order to heal and in turn experience a better relationship with both ourselves and our partner.

In position 4, we have The Chariot card. I often see the Chariot as the ‘Moving on’ card. To me it is about shedding the baggage from the past and moving through life confidently. It also reminds us to say no to any bullshit (pardon my French) or things that we should not and must not tolerate in a relationship or with anyone else.

The Chariot card also has an air of being in control of your life and your emotions. When our mind is consumed with negativity and our thoughts are constantly playing negative statements in our head like a broken record, it can be difficult to arrive at a positive conclusion and make decisions that serve us well. It is important to neutralize the negative voice and to not give it the power to diminish our sense of self-worth.

One interesting insight that I would also like to share with you today comes from the imagery of The Chariot card from the Modern Love Tarot deck. Notice that the woman in this card is wearing a heart-shaped belt around her waist (I would like to think, that is her stomach region).

The Stomach region here is a symbolic representation of the Solar plexus chakra. This Chakra represents our will power, self-esteem, our levels of aggressive, motivation, and even our instincts. We are being reminded to lead with love in the aforementioned areas.

First and foremost, Love yourself so that your sense of self-worth is not disrupted. Don’t let your words and demeanor take on an aggressive tone. Control your anger and don’t let ego come in the way when it comes to the people you love.

Leading with love will also strengthen your instincts so that you can clearly see and sense what is right for you.

Coming to the final position, I love where all this is leading to. At position 5, we have the 10 of Pentacles. This is a card of the family, of togetherness, harmony, happiness and peace.

This reading promises that all will be well in the end, provided, we closely examine what the other cards were saying earlier.

We don’t have to fear Venus retrograde. Think of this as a cosmic time where we are being guided to closely look at unresolved issues and destructive patterns specially in our personal relationships.

Think of this as a time where we are being asked to heal and transform some of those dark, murky emotions that are subconsciously lingering in our system and consciously affecting the quality of our life and relationships. Be ready to do the work and you will emerge out of this phase with flying colors.

I hope this post will serve you well. Until next time.
